I joined my university’s student-run newspaper in my freshman year on a whim. Eventually, I wrote nearly 80 articles and was a science editor during the COVID pandemic. It was then, when I saw the rampant spread of misinformation, that I understood the power and comfort of well-researched journalism.
In 2024, I was the Richard Casement intern at The Economist. Below are articles and podcast episodes from my time there—none of which would have been possible without the patient and caring mentorship of my editors, Alok Jha and Gilead Amit. I am eternally grateful to them for taking a chance on a medical student with no formal journalism training.
